Integration to SCADA
systems:
Questions and Answers
Q: The question is if such a system can
also be used after the design phase, Is there a requirement for such a system
for the Owner Operator (OP), the
company that the design has been done for by the EPC?
A: The answer is yes; with 1Des the
developers has taken one step further so that all the information do not became
just another “dead” database record. 1Des is providing tools so that the PLC /
DCS systems can inherit the information inside the database, but not only that,
for example for the Unity software of
Schneider Electric, can 1Des
generate the XPG programs for the digital, analogue, motor drive, etc, blocks
from standard code templates for the different PLC’s
for all the tags created in 1Des.
Q: Further does 1Des also
provide a tool that would, for example create a Galaxy ready import file for the
Wonderware ArchestrA software that utilizes the defined templates inside
ArchestrA, with user defined blocks?
A:
When these information are then
deployed to the SCADA system, the plant drawings generated by 1Des, can be
previewed directly from the SCADA when clicking for example on a valve that does
not open. The loop drawing can be opened and fault finding can be done
immediately and accurately. This has the big benefit of less plant down time
especially on late night call-outs, etc.
